## Lions' Veteran Receiver Faces Uncertain Future

Detroit wide receiver Tim Patrick hoped to return for another season with the Lions after signing a one-year deal this offseason. But his future in Detroit is now uncertain, as Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox has named him a potential trade candidate. 

The Writing on the Wall

The Lions drafted Isaac TeSlaa in the third round, trading three third-round picks to move up and secure the promising young receiver. Early reports from training camp have been positive about TeSlaa, who backed that up with a standout performance in the Hall of Fame game, leading all receivers with 46 yards on two catches.

A Tough Competition

Patrick had a solid season last year despite facing tough competition for targets, catching 33 passes for 394 yards and three touchdowns while converting 20 catches into first downs.  That performance could attract interest from other teams seeking wide receiver depth.

Trade Makes Cents

Trading Patrick would make more financial sense for the Lions than cutting him. Releasing him would result in $2.5 million in dead cap space, while a trade would only leave them with $1.245 million in dead money. 

Patrick still has time to prove himself during the preseason and secure his spot on the roster. However, with TeSlaa's rapid development and the Lions’ financial considerations, Patrick's future in Detroit is increasingly uncertain.
